So this is one of those posts I’m getting to late after a pretty busy day, and writing about the pretty busy day previous to this one, so it will be pretty brief.

Thursday I had a presentation and bunch of other work stuff to get through. But I got a nice break when Amelia came into my office and read aloud her report on the Arctic. I learned quite a bit.

Later in the afternoon, I had to make a rare work excursion out of the home office to go visit a contractor’s office to shoot a brief video for a project we’re working on. It was me and one other person in a huge conference room, masked. We did a quick video interview, and at first I was thrilled by how little time it took. However, it was pretty clear the guy I was meeting with was pretty thrilled to have some kind of human contact, so we chatted for a while afterward. He was a nice guy and it was all good, and it struck me as funny when I was leaving and he asked me for my business card.

It hit me then that I didn’t have any with me, which would never have happened in the pre-COVID days. I always kept a stack in my bag, but it had been so long since I went to anyone’s office, it never even occurred to me to grab business cards.

Anway, that done I started the trek home and got to experience another thing I hadn’t much dealt with since before the age of COVID…traffic! Ah, good times navigating from south to north Denver at the height of rush hour.

After the meeting I was off to take my weekly “artists’ date,” which is something suggested in a book I’m reading about boosting one’s creative writing. The idea is just to take an hour or two out of your normal routine doing something inspiring or different. I generally try to do a little writing and take a walk or do something like that.

It was pretty nice on this particular afternoon, and after being stuck in traffic, a glass of wine sounded good, so I sat outside a nice little wine bar, had a happy hour glass of red and did some writing.

After that I ran a few errands and headed home, helped get the kids to bed, and did a little more writing. It was a full day, and a good one. And now, since I’m too tired to come up with a witty conclusion maybe I’ll just trail off….
