Tuesday was a day that had been looming on my calendar for a while. I’d been working for a few weeks on a continuing education presentation to deliver to the local AIA via Zoom, and the day was finally here. It was on the topic of sustainability, which is something I am pretty passionate about, so I was kind of nervous and wanted it to be good.

I was overall feeling good about what I had to present, and spent the morning doing all kinds of last minute adjustments and tweaks. Like the old saying goes about movies, presentations are never really finished, they are just abandoned.

So I got ready to deliver the presentation in my usual quiet spot in the guest room. They asked me to call in 30 minutes early to make sure all the audio and slides were working. It turned out they also wanted me to show my face for the first part of the presentation.

I admit, I wasn’t expecting that. And thank goodness I had actually showered and put on a professional looking shirt, because I had frankly been very close to going in wearing my sweats, my hair doing some kind of Doc Brown thing.

After finding this out, I did have a little downtime before the presentation and did take a look at my background, which was not going to win any awards on Room Rater. Not much I could do about that, but I did have kind of an issue with the fact that my usual setup has me kind of hunched over the computer, which is sitting on kind of a low table. I ultimately decided the best solution to have a better straight on shot was to switch to a lower chair.

Yup, the presentation I’d been preparing for a month to give, I delivered while sitting in a tiny, kiddie chair. Just the kind of high-level professionalism that has always been my hallmark.

Toddler seating aside, the presentation thankfully went pretty well and I was feeling good about it. Not bad for a first run. It still needs a little work, but I think it was well received and I’m proud of what I’ve put together. I’ll take that as a win.

Of course, when it was over I was completely exhausted. I struggled through the rest of the afternoon with work, and also with the fact that Henry was apparently trying to cram as many defiant tantrums as he could into a single day. We could tell he was super tired, but of course wouldn’t take a nap, so finally I decided to take him for a ride. I had to drive through the bank, and I also had to drop off our Colorado primary ballots. Rock the vote, dudes!

I think we were about 3 minutes away from home when he knocked out solid. I ran my errands, came home and let him stay sleeping in the car, parked in the garage. I think he was in there at least 45 minutes before I finally woke him up. Now rested, he was super insane and hyper for the rest of the evening. Wooo!

If anyone out there is aware of like an app or a gadget that allows grown ups to borrow any of the boundless energy of a 4-year-old, please let me know.

From there, I made some yummy salmon with red curry for dinner. Another great Danielle Walker recipe you can check out here.

That was about it for Tuesday. Still dragging a little, I must admit. I keep trying to look at each day as a fresh start, but sometimes all the stumbles, struggles and challenges of the week do add up. I know in my head it’s a short week, so why does it already feel like a long one? Oh well. Onward.
