Tuesday morning, we had an exciting delivery. A new vacuum cleaner! That’s right, the old one frankly sucked. Or more accurately, DIDN’T suck.

OUCH. Sorry about that. Really no excuse for a pun of that caliber, but sometimes I can’t help myself. So, moving on…

Anyway, it works really well and, perhaps more importantly, provide us with one of the kids’ very favorite things in the world…a new box!

Now these often get transformed into cars, but recently Amelia mentioned wanting to put on a puppet show, so I had the idea of turning this one into a little puppet show stage. The idea was a hit, so at lunchtime I got out the scissors and went to work.

You’ve heard of box seats, but a box stage?!? Right? Am I right? Eh? Eh? OK, I’ll stop now.

Anyway, Amelia spent some time after school drawing on it, writing signs and making it her own. She also arranged the dining room chairs in theater fashion, and went to work casting some of her stuffies for an elaborate performance.

Erin and I were shown to our seats, and the show began with Amelia…

…and then went to Henry.

They both put on quite a performance. It was entertaining and enlightening. Amelia’s play depicted a spirited game of Uno being played by her animal characters, and Henry’s show was an examination of what a few stuffies had for various meals and snacks. Sort of a slice of life performance.

The show wrapped up, and while Erin and I worked on dinner, the kids continued their creative burst, switching now to paints.

Brilliant works all around. It was a very artistically inspired Tuesday.
