On Sunday, we decided to take our guest out for a nice hike, to get some fresh air and show off some Colorado scenery. So we had some breakfast and headed toward Boulder, and a lovely trail we explored for the first time just a few weeks ago.
The kids were excited to hit the trail. Possibly because of the views and the excitement, but more likely because we promised them McDonald’s afterward.

It was pretty windy out, which was challenging especially at the peak, but we had a really lovely hike.

Afterward, we headed home for some lunch and warmth. It was a pretty relaxing Sunday. We turned on
“The Big Game” for a little while, and of course it turned out exactly as expected, so that got turned off by the start of the second half.
The kids, however, entertained themselves building a nice blanket fort, which was a much more worthwhile endeavor.

I roasted a chicken and we had a nice dinner, then took the kids to bed. It was one of those days where I sort of lost track of time, so dinner was a bit late and everything got pushed back, so the kids bedtime was a little later than usual. They were both winding down, and decided to take turns reading parts of Henry’s Daniel Tiger book to each other.

It was really sweet, and yet another example of how glad I am that the kids have each other. Yes, they can fight and bicker, as all siblings (and all humans, for that matter) do, but they look out for each other, make each other laugh and tell each other stories. Really, that’s the best any of us can ask from anybody.
