Wednesday was one of those days where I woke up feeling like it should be Friday, but it wasn’t even close. It’s the work week equivalent of your kid asking “are we there yet?” 20 minutes into an 8 hour drive.

That is something I have actually experienced, by the way.

Anyway, it was the usual morning routine and off to work. I was attending a number of virtual meetings for an industry conference that’s going on in New Orleans. For the past few weeks, several colleagues have asked if I was going in person, but I decided to give it a pass. First of all, I am not fully vaccinated yet, and secondly, I’m not sure swampy New Orleans is high on my list for “first place to visit following a global pandemic.”

Anyway, the meetings went fine, and somewhere along the line Amelia came in, sporting a cape and headband, to tell me that her teacher had declared it to be superhero day in class. Fortunately Amelia has quite a super heroic wardrobe to choose from, so she was good to go.

It turned out to be a really nice afternoon outside, so after the kids were done with school and Erin and I finished up our work for the day, all four of us went to the park together. Erin and I sat and enjoyed the fresh air while the kids played around.

Eventually I got up to play restaurant with Amelia, and Henry joined Erin on the park bench for a little chat.

Back home, we made some dinner, ran through our evening routine and called it a night. It was a pretty normal kind of day in a week that just seems to be dragging on for some reason. But one step closer to the weekend.
