Friday was the start a pretty busy weekend. Erin had to take Henry to an assessment, Amelia and I took Asta to the vet, and then there was phone calls, work and all the usual weekday stuff. I also snuck in a run on the treadmill in our basement. When I finished, I found Amelia down there making some intricate architectural designs with Solo cups.
In the afternoon, I took the kids to the grocery store, and then we got back to get ready for…can you believe this…a DINNER GUEST!
For the past year, having anyone come over has of course been a very, very rare event. But since we’re vaccinated now, we’re having more indoor interactions with other vaccinated folks, which still feels a little strange.
Our friend Sarah, an old co-worker of mine from back in Chicago, was out visiting Colorado the past week, taking in the sights and doing some hiking. We invited her over to dinner, and it was great catching up and actually having someone over to dinner again.
Amelia was also super excited to have someone new to talk to, and she and Sarah connected immediately on all kinds of things. They particuarly had a lot to discuss in the realm of Spongebob Squarepants, a cartoon they are both love.
We sat outside, had dinner and enjoyed each other’s company for a few hours. It was so nice to see our friend again, and also a great reminder of how nice real human interaction is!
Big thanks to Sarah for joining us for a little while, and it was pretty clear that she has a new friend in Amelia.
