On Wednesday, I had my monthly conference call with my board of directors, so I had lots to prepare. And by that I mean I needed to take a shower, shave and put on a shirt that has a collar. You see, while we generally do these via conference call, I just got us set up with Zoom, so it would be our first virtual meeting with webcams on.
The meeting went very well, and I do think seeing everyone added a little something to the interaction. I would be close to say that I was a little overdressed for the occasion, with most of the group working from home and wearing hoodies and caps, but one of my members was in a shirt and tie. He was also working from home and got a little ribbing from the group for dressing it up, but he just commented that putting on the tie helps get him in the right mindset. I can respect that.
As for the rest of the family, it was a fairly smooth day. Just the typical occasional turf battles of who plays with which toy, and who picks what we’re watching. Also the usual constant stream of snack requests, so in all ways, a normal day with two little kids.
Ever since the Elmo virtual play date, Sesame Street has come up big in the house consciousness again, and Amelia has been playing games and watching videos in the Sesame Street app. Grover has always been her favorite, because my daughter has excellent taste.
She was learning about “near” and “far” from Grover, and felt the need to demonstrate and reenact for us. Many times. She finally requested it be committed to video.

Amelia does an excellent Grover, even in the midst of near collisions with both Henry and Asta. Kudos to Asta for quick reflexes there at the end.
Other than that, we took advantage of the not terrible weather, knowing snow was on the way, to take a quick walk with Asta. It was brief, but at least allowed a little running around in the park. It was drizzling by the time we got home, and snowing another hour after that. Ah, the joys of spring in Colorado.
I know snow is a bummer this time of year, especially in quarantine, but I will say I find something peaceful about it. I suppose maybe it feels more normal to stay in and not go anywhere when there are piles of snow on the ground. And the neighborhood does look pretty under a blanket of snow.
That said, I’m glad the forecast has us warming up in a few days. We had snow on Easter, and it occurred to me that, going back to Halloween, we’ve had snow on every major holiday except Christmas. Hopefully we won’t be dreaming of a white Earth Day.
