Sunday was one of those mornings that flew by in a blaze of activity, but in the end I couldn’t really tell you what I did or accomplished. A quick trip the grocery store, a few odds and ends, and boom, it was almost mid afternoon. It was kind of like running on a treadmill that way. Which is ironic because most mornings I actually do run on a treadmill, but this day was so nice I finally ran outside.

Absolutely I realize that isn’t ironic at all. More of a mildly humor-adjacent juxtaposition of strained metaphor and an opposing event. Or something. I just wanted to use the word “ironic” to see if I have become strong enough to silence my inner critic long enough to get to the end of that sentence. Turns out I was, but just barely. Just barely.

Anyway, one thing I did get done was some laundry, with an assist from my young helpers. They wanted to help put their own clothes in the washer, and here they are working together to take Henry’s hamper back to his closet.

It was a beautiful day outside, so in the afternoon we decided to take a family walk on one of the area trails. It was a great afternoon to be outside, soak in the sunshine and fresh air, and take in the sights.

At the end we made a brief stop at a local playground and let the kids have a little fun.

Back home, the dogs passed out after a nice long walk, and Erin and I sat on the front porch for a little while before making some dinner. Amelia also worked really hard on writing a weather report, which she delivered from her box puppet theater. She asked me to record it, and it was quite an elaborate report. She had many co-anchors, too.

Having gotten a lot of useful information from that broadcast, I then set to making dinner. We had a nice, low key evening, followed by baths and cleaning up for the kids, and bedtime. I sat outside to do some more writing and reading before calling it a night. I was pretty tired, but stayed up pretty late watching random bits of TV.

Tired but staying up late. Is that ironic? No, probably just kind of dumb.
