Tuesday morning, I woke up to the not-so-great news that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine had been paused. This was disappointing, both for the country’s vaccination program and the overall confidence of the population, but also more specifically because Erin and I were both signed up to get the J&J vaccine this week.

Going back a week or so, we were originally signed up to get J&J at a mass vaccination site, but the supply issue of last week caused that to change, so we instead found an appointment closer to home to get the shot. Appointment number 2.

We decided to set ours a few days apart, in case either of us gets side effects. So OK, good to go. Or…not. With the pause, those appointments were cancelled and we were right back to square one, trying to find appointments.

We spent a good chunk of Tuesday morning scrambling around to find them. Erin was able to get one relatively close to home, but I was coming up blank. Erin had made a backup appointment a little ways off as a backup, and called them to see if she could cancel and get me in instead. In the end, they were able to schedule me for Monday, but in a place almost an hour away in Loveland. Appointment number 3. Oh well, it’s a little far, but it’s something and I’m thankful for what I can get.

The kids both went about their days, and after lunch, Henry was off to preschool. It was a busy day for him, as right after school he had to turn around and go to drum lessons. I was a little worried about how he would do, but he was an ace, and was great rocking out at his lesson.

It was also a big day for Henry, because he earned a prize at school, AND got a cool candy-filled trophy at his drum lesson.

At dinner time, I decided to apply some crushed red peppers to my chicken and fell victim to a classic prank, this one from the packaging people at Trader Joe’s who changed this from a screw off top to a flip top without telling me.

Whoops! I’m a little embarrassed to tell you how much of that I wound up eating. It was notable.

And speaking of treats, the other day Henry had watched a Halloween episode of some cartoon or another and got all fixated on wanting it to be Halloween. So Erin had the idea of having our own little mini Halloween in the house, with some dressing up and redistribution of the last of the Easter candy.

The kids had fun going back and forth between Erin and me, trick or treating. They loved dressing up and it was lots of fun. Afterward, Henry started to say how much he wishes it could be Christmas. Don’t push your luck, kid.
